How to Find Government Foreclosures: Rescuing a HUD Property

January 26, 2010

Much can be gained from buying a property that is included in a list of government foreclosures.  Government foreclosures are homes whose homeowners have defaulted on their Housing and Urban Development secured mortgage loan.

Buying foreclosed properties both by the government and by banks can be a excellent way to invest in real estate.  Not a few people have made fortunes by investing in foreclosed properties.

Foreclosure property investing is considered to be very safe and lucrative at the same time.  Those with disposable cash on which they want to earn additional income could choose to invest in properties foreclosed by the government.

Properties in government foreclosures could be found in foreclosure listings.  These listings usually contain a number of foreclosure homes aside from those foreclosed by the government.

Among the other types of foreclosure homes included in foreclosure listings are bank foreclosures, repossessed homes, pre-foreclosed homes, and VA repo homes.  These homes can often be bought at lower than market rates as the government agencies handling these foreclosures are keen to get these properties off their hands -  lest their holding costs increase without any hope of them ever recovering these costs, and any other amount of money lost on the property they are holding.

Money that is lying around and not earning a cent would be better off with investing in foreclosed properties.  With a small bit of cleaning up and refurbishing, these foreclosed homes can be worth a fantastic deal of money larger than what you have paid for in the foreclosure sale.
